Diego Antunes returns to the Vereeniging Kart Circuit this weekend, two weeks after competing at the same venue in the regional Mini ROK competition. Antunes, who enjoys the backing of TrevPar World, will compete in only his second national event since joining the class.
While not in the championship hunt, the 2022 Bambino driver competes in the final national round of the season after a brief stint in the Kid ROK class earlier in the season. While the Mini ROK class is open to ages 9 to 13, Antunes remains eligible for Mini ROK U/10 class honours where he clinched two podiums at the last event he competed at. Antunes, however, remains confident of a strong showing this weekend as he continues his preparations for the 2024 season.
“I was pretty happy with my performance a few weeks ago, and I hope to continue that form into the weekend’s national. I realise that the competition is somewhat more fierce this weekend and the field will be much bigger, but the circuit remains the same. We just need to give our best, and the results will take care of themselves,” stated Antunes.
Friday will see a full day of practice with six 10-minute sessions spread throughout the day. Saturday morning’s Qualifying (10:24) precedes four race heats (11:44, 13:04, 14:54 and 16:14) before an overall round winner is declared.
